Hi there! My name is Harumi, but you can just call me Lumy. 😊 I'm a Japanese-Brazilian living in Canada, based in Ottawa, ON. I'm a Visual Artist & Designer specializing in amigurumi, crochet patterns and tutorials, and cute-style digital illustrations.
Since 2022, I've been sharing my creations on social media. You can find my complete PDF patterns in my little Pattern Shop, and on Patreon, you’ll discover plenty of FREE and EXCLUSIVE goodies. From time to time, I also participate in local art markets in my city, where you can find physical products like plushies and printed artwork.
Now, unnecessary bonus info and history you didn't ask for 😁: I have a bachelor's degree in Japanese Language and Literature and worked as a language instructor until 2019, when my mental health reached a breaking point. Although I've been considering getting back to it on the side, I feel super blessed to finally have the opportunity to pursue my childhood dream job as an artist.
I've been drawing since I was 9 years old and crocheting never-ending chains since I was even younger. Complete craft projects only started coming together in 2015 after I fell in love with the amigurumi technique. I've also been working my way through digital art since 2021, but the path has been full of ups and downs - maybe more downs than ups. I have everlasting plans to pick up many other crafts, such as punch needle embroidery, needle felting, and Tunisian crochet, which I can proudly say I've finally started!
On more personal notes: I'm a millennial, as you can see by the excessive emoji use. 😗 My genetics are probably the result of some weird ancestors' trade-off - where I get the face of a 20-year-old and the health of a 70-year-old for most of my life until one day they'll synchronize into a 200-year-old or something. I've been married since 2017. I have three kids who are cats and none who are humans. I can communicate in Portuguese, Japanese, and English. Spanish could also count if you let me reply in any other language. 🙈 And I've just completed the full Duolingo French course, but I still can only understand the basics of the basics.
I'm a gamer, especially of cute and cozy genres, although I enjoy the occasional Tekken or Dynasty Warriors, and I'm addicted to watching horror game streams. I've been trying to relearn how to play the guitar after a 16-year hiatus. And I guess that's all I can think of to fit in this space. 😁
